Dave was an inspirational character in all aspects of his full and very active life. He was a man of great integrity , commitment , kindness and boundless enthusiasm . So many of us have benefited from his friendship and warm personality and countless students owe him a great debt of gratitude for his teaching and coaching skills enhanced by his experience and knowledge in all these areas and spiced by a wonderful sense of humour , his unforgettable laugh and a huge competitive spirit. He fostered the essential team spirit par excellence in everyone around him as a hallmark of his life and never took a backward step when faced with challenges as many of us can personally testify when we faced this power of nature in the physical arena of rugby football at which he excelled! There is no doubt that he will be very sadly missed by all of us who had the privilege of knowing him but he will be remembered with great warmth and affection. Indeed , his was a truly inspirational life which had such a positive impact on so many friends and colleagues and he has left behind a most remarkable and priceless legacy.
